Michigan shut out Florida for the final three quarters of the game, taking the Citrus Bowl with a deciding 41-7 victory.

Despite not having Jabrill Peppers, the Wolverines looked fine, thrashing the Gators in every which way. But although the offensive showing was on point, it was the Michigan defense that stole the show.

In the first edition of the Jim Harbaugh era, Michigan ended the season by sending a message - the Big Ten will be wide open for years to come.

Here's what you need to know:

  • Without Peppers, Michigan was still able to cap off what is arguably the best comeback season in college football.
  • The Wolverines were led by quarterback Jake Rudock, who was phenomenal in managing his team to victory against Florida.
  • Rudock threw for 278 yards on 20-of-31 passing and three touchdowns. Not only that, but he was able to keep the Gators off balance by utilizing multiple players.
  • Seven separate receivers netted double-digit receiving games, led by Jehu Chesson, who recorded 118 receiving yards and a touchdown on only five catches.
  • Across the field, Florida was without its kicker, Austin Hardin, which shouldn't have been the worst news. Though, it was when the Gators attempted a botched fake field goal.
  • Treon Harris was average, throwing for 146 yards and a pick. He didn't do much on the ground, either, rushing for 55 yards.

Play of the Game

Win or lose, this was it. Just 2 yards away from a score, Florida pulled off one heck of a trick play that caught the Michigan defense beyond off guard.

Sure, why not, Florida?
