Florida State's Sean Maguire returns to Peach Bowl after suffering leg injury

Melina Vastola / USA TODAY Sports

Florida State quarterback Sean Maguire has returned to the Peach Bowl against Houston after leaving in the first quarter with a lower leg injury.

Maguire ran onto the field early in the second quarter to a rousing ovation from the Florida State fans. He was sporting a wad of medical tape around the injured area.

Maguire exited in the first quarter, unable to put much - if any - pressure on his left leg. He was carted to the locker room and replaced on the field by freshman J.J. Cosentino. In Maguire's absence, Cosentino went 1-for-4 for 5 yards through the air. Florida State trailed Houston 7-3 at the time of the injury.

Backup quarterback Everett Golson is not with the team due to personal reasons, which led to Cosentino entering the contest instead of the fifth-year senior.
