Hornets' Jefferson undergoes surgery to repair torn meniscus

Al Jefferson underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Thursday, the team announced.
The Charlotte Hornets center will be out of commission for approximately six weeks, as previously reported, giving the 30-year-old big man's torn lateral meniscus time to heal.
Should the 12-year veteran's return occur according to schedule, he would re-join his team the week of the NBA All-Star break (mid-February).
The soon-to-be unrestricted free agent is averaging 12.5 points and 6.1 rebounds in 19 games this season.
