VIDEO: Lionel Messi wiped out by Real Betis goalkeeper Adan
Fans at the Camp Nou watched with bated breath as Barcelona star Lionel Messi collapsed in a heap after colliding with Real Betis goalkeeper Antonio Adan, on the day that marks his 500th appearance for the Blaugrana.
Messi and Adan both went in for a ball sent into the box near the half-hour mark, with the diminutive Argentine smacking into Adan's hip with force and at high speed. It left Messi down and dizzy, while a medical cart sped onto the field to attend to his health.
The referee gave a penalty for the challenge, as well as a yellow card to Adan. The resulting kick, struck by Neymar, smacked against the crossbar but was tapped in by Real Betis defender Heiko Westermann, to his misfortune.
Messi then reentered the field, blinked away the stars in his eyes, and scored four minutes later. You can't make this stuff up, folks.
