The Carolina Panthers have parted ways with defensive end Wes Horton rather than moving him back to the active roster.
Horton, having completed a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's performance enhancing drug policy, was officially waived Monday.
The 25-year-old could have returned to a depth role heading into the playoffs, but a crowded defensive end rotation left him without a roster spot.
Horton has spent his entire three-year career with the Panthers, appearing in 34 games and tallying six sacks.
