It was exhausting watching this game.

The Detroit Pistons outlasted the Chicago Bulls by a score of 147-144 in quadruple overtime behind superhuman efforts from Andre Drummond and Reggie Jackson.

Jackson finished with 33 points, six rebounds, and 13 assists, while Drummond ended with 31 points and 21 boards at United Center.

And that almost wasn't enough against a determined Jimmy Butler.

Jackson scored 13 points in the fourth overtime and Detroit looked to have the win in hand. The slow-footed Bulls bigs couldn't track Jackson on his forays to the rim, and Derrick Rose did little to contain dribble penetration.

However, Butler refused to concede. He single-handedly staged a comeback by scoring the Bulls' last four field goals and even nailed a fadeaway three to bring Chicago to within one. And had a foul been called on Kentavious Caldwell-Pope's undercut of Butler, the game might have gone to a fifth overtime.

Butler finished the game with 43 points on 14-of-29 shooting, along with eight rebounds, two steals, and two blocks in 56 minutes.

His effort was backed up by a 30-point, 15-rebound, five-block performance by Pau Gasol. The 35-year-old somehow trudged through 48 minutes, hit a layup to send it into double overtime, and, save for some exhaustion on defense, almost played Drummond to a standstill.

Ultimately, it was the poor shooting of Rose - a season-long trend for the beleaguered guard - that shorthanded the Bulls. He tallied 34 points, but it took him 34 shots to get there. That being said, he was vital to the team's offense in the first overtime, so the loss can't solely be pinned on him.

It also didn't help that Chicago's highest bench scorer was Joakim Noah, who had all of six points.

The victory drops the Bulls to 15-9 on the season, while Detroit's resurgent season continues as the Pistons improved to 16-12.
