5 storylines stemming from the Euro 2016 draw

As the dust settled following Saturday's Euro 2016 draw, the analysis of its outcome kicked off.

The draw paved the roads that 24 national teams must embark on to reach the Promised Land, determined when and where supporters will be spending their vacation time, and, above all, produced an endless list of storylines that are the subject of discussion across Europe.

Here are five storylines stemming from the Euro 2016 draw:

Albania got the better of France in recent friendlies

Having qualified automatically as the host, France has been preparing for Euro 2016 by playing friendlies during the international breaks, as hosts generally prepare.

In one of those friendlies in June, Albania defeated France for the first time in its history. The fixture was played in Tirana, Albania's capital, and a free-kick from Ergys Kace produced the match's only goal.

Seven months earlier, in another friendly, Albania manufactured an impressive display, playing out a 1-1 draw against France in front of a capacity crowd at Roazhon Park in the French city of Rennes.

For whatever reason, Albania knows how to get a result when taking on the French, and with the two teams drawn together in Group A, the former will be high on confidence on June 15 at the Stade Velodrome.

England and Wales have met on 101 occasions

Beginning in 1884 at the inaugural edition of the British Home Championship, England and Wales have clashed 101 times, with the former winning 66 of those encounters and the latter winning only 14.

By virtue of being drawn alongside each other in Group B, the two teams from the United Kingdom will clash for the 102nd time on June 16 at Stade Bollaert-Delelis.

England has won its last four battles against Wales, and Roy Hodgson referred to the tie as one to "excite the imagination." Chris Coleman, on the other hand, admitted he isn't looking forward to the date, saying: "England is the one team I said that we didn't want. To play England, they are a fantastic team but we are a good team too. The atmosphere will be electric."

Gareth Bale, however, is relishing the prospect of taking on the Three Lions.

Poland ended its winless run against Germany in qualifying

On Oct. 11, 2014, in its second Euro 2016 qualifier, Poland claimed a historic 2-0 victory over Germany, defeating its eternal rival for the first time ever in the 19th head-to-head between the two teams.

Of course, because there's seemingly no separating the neighbours, Poland and Germany were drawn together in Group C and will renew their rivalry on June 16 at the Stade de France.

Spain, Croatia clashed at Euro 2012

At the most recent edition of the European Championship, Euro 2012, Spain and Croatia were drawn into the same group and met in what proved to be a winner-takes-all fixture.

Spain emerged with a 1-0 victory that knocked Croatia out of the tournament, but the Kockasti have a shot at revenge, having been placed alongside Spain in Group D, which many view as something of a group of death.

Taulant Xhaka vs. Granit Xhaka

Two brothers representing two different national teams. The script writes itself.

When Albania kicks off its Euro 2016 campaign against Switzerland on June 11 at Stade Bollaert-Delelis, brothers Taulant Xhaka and Granit Xhaka will be pulling the strings of their family's hearts. While Taulant opted to feature for Albania, Granit chose to represent Switzerland, setting up an intriguing individual battle for bragging rights.
