Colorado Rapids pick up Zac MacMath in trade with Philadelphia Union
The Colorado Rapids announced on Friday the club has acquired goalkeeper Zac MacMath from the Philadelphia Union in a trade that sees a second-round draft pick go the other way.
MacMath spent much of the 2015 season on loan at the Rapids last season, playing in three matches as a substitute for Clint Irwin.
"Although he did not get that many minutes last season, Zac impressed us with his ability and his professionalism," club technical director Paul Bravo said in a statement. "The deal makes economic sense for us and he'll add good depth to our goalkeeping position."
MacMath joined the league in 2011 out of the MLS SuperDraft, picked up by Philadelphia, where he became the starting goalkeeper from 2012 to 2014.
At 24 years old, he is the youngest player to reach 100 career games in MLS history.
