Seattle Sounders swap Lamar Neagle for allocation money
'Tis the season for Major League Soccer roster moves, and Seattle Sounders have followed suit and traded midfielder Lamar Neagle to DC United for allocation money, the Cascadia club announced Monday.
Per MLS policy, specific terms and details of the agreement were not disclosed. MLS allocation money assists clubs looking to sign players without having them count against the league-mandated salary cap.
Neagle joined Sigi Schmid's side in 2013 from the Montreal Impact, after two previous tenures with the Sounders.
Neagle's coastal change presents a host of attacking options for gaffer Ben Olsen, though he is not eligible for the CONCACAF Champions League.

The 28-year-old versatile attacker made 93 appearances for the Sounders over the last three seasons, scoring 21 goals coupled with 15 assists. He did not feature in any of the club's three postseason fixtures.
"Lamar has been a player who I think has been really important to who we are as the Sounders," club GM and president of soccer Garth Lagerwey told reporters last week.
"He's a local kid who's done well and worked really hard under some fairly adverse circumstances during the season this year. We are really appreciative of what Lamar's given to the organization."
