VIDEO: Steph Curry goes supernova, drops 40 on Dell Curry Night

Wednesday night in Charlotte was billed as Dell Curry Night, but it was his oldest son, Stephen, who took center stage.

The reigning MVP scored 40 points, including an absurd 28 points in the third quarter alone, as his Golden State Warriors improved to 20-0 with a 116-99 trouncing of the Charlotte Hornets.

A decidedly bemused Dell Curry had the pleasure of calling his son's ridiculous showing for the Hornets broadcast.

"For him to be here and be a part of this, and the way they are playing, makes it extra special," the proud papa told Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer after the game.

Stephen's last shot - a pull-up 30-footer to end the third quarter - edged him past Dell's career-high of 38 points as a Hornet. This comes on the heels of Stephen passing Dell on the all-time 3-pointers made list.

But he's got a while to go before unseating his dad in the household hierarchy.
