Jurgen Klopp throws support behind injury-riddled Daniel Sturridge

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has pledged his full support to oft-injured striker Daniel Sturridge as the England international looks to bounce back from a foot ailment.

On the heels of a hip concern and a subsequent foot injury that has limited the Birmingham-born attacker to a meager 10 Premier League appearances since the start of the 2014-15 campaign, Klopp concedes that Sturridge must be treated differently than other players.

"We are in a different situation when we talk about Daniel," Klopp told the Daily Mirror when discussing his star striker. "It is not because of his qualities, it is only because of his history. With someone who has had 20 injuries, you cannot be treated like a normal player.

"We all have our own experiences. If someone has more injuries than someone else, then they will have more doubt - that is normal. That is why we have to all be together."

Sunday's 1-0 victory over Swansea marked Sturridge's fourth appearance of the season and first with Klopp as manager. The former Borussia Dortmund boss admits that the support of the entire club is behind Sturridge.

"Nobody is alone at Melwood. We are all in it together," he said. "We have to give the right advice in the right moment. Not to play along in these moments. When we all decide 'Yes. Go' then we have to trust each other. That's what we will all learn and do, better and better and better."

Liverpool travels to St. Mary's on Tuesday to face Southampton in a League Cup tilt, looking to join Manchester City, Stoke City, and Everton in the semifinals of the tournament it last won in 2011-12.
