Bulls' Dunleavy suffers setback in recovery, out at least 2 more weeks
The Chicago Bulls announced Monday that small forward Mike Dunleavy has had a setback in his recovery from offseason back surgery and won't be ready for game action for at least another two weeks.
Dunleavy underwent a lower back microdiscectomy procedure on Sept. 25 and was originally ruled out 8-10 weeks. He passed the nine-week mark on Friday, but Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg said the veteran is still experiencing pain.
"The recommendation is for him to get off the floor and to really focus on just straight rehab for about two weeks," Hoiberg told reporters.
The 35-year-old Dunleavy started 63 games for the Bulls last season, missing 19 with an assortment of ailments. He averaged 9.4 points per game and was the team's main perimeter threat, hitting more than 40 percent of his shots from deep. The 14-year pro re-signed with the Bulls on a three-year, $14.4-million contract this past summer.
Chicago has been starting either Tony Snell or Doug McDermott in his place.
