Karl-Anthony Towns, Kristaps Porzingis named Rookies of the Month

Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns and New York Knicks center Kristaps Porzingis were named the NBA's Rookies of the Month for October/November.
Towns was second among rookies in scoring (14.4) and first in rebounding (9.4), blocks (2.2), and free-throw percentage (86.9). The 7-footer out of Kentucky did most of his damage as a teenager, having just turned 20 on Nov. 15.
After being booed mercilessly on draft night, Porzingis has proven doubters wrong in his debut season. The 7-foot-3 Latvian is third among first-year players in scoring (13.7 points) and second in rebounding (9.3) and blocked shots (1.9).
Other nominees for the award included Rondae Hollis-Jefferson of the Brooklyn Nets, Emmanuel Mudiay of the Denver Nuggets, Justise Winslow of the Miami Heat, Stanley Johnson of the Detroit Pistons, D'Angelo Russell of the Los Angeles Lakers, and T.J. McConnell and Jahlil Okafor of the Philadelphia 76ers.
