Manchester City will be without Vincent Kompany on the weekend for its Saturday league fixture against Southampton.

Club manager Manuel Pellegrini first provided an injury update for goalkeeper Joe Hart, and also took some time to address further concerns within his squad - namely, the statuses of David Silva, and Kompany, the latter of whom is dealing with a calf injury picked up on international duty with Belgium.

"David Silva is working with the physio in Manchester and we will know more tomorrow, but Vincent Kompany has no chance to play this week," Pellegrini said after his side's 1-0 loss to Juventus. "He is not running yet and will need at least two weeks more."

With two weeks of recovery ahead of him, Kompany will be racing for fitness with one eye on a December 5 fixture against Stoke City.
