DFS: Counterattack - Wednesday's Top Contrarian Plays

Bill Streicher / USA TODAY Sports

Here are the top against-the-grain options for Wednesday, November 25's 12-game NBA slate:

PG Kyle Lowry, Raptors (vs. Cavaliers)

There are a couple of red flags around Lowry. He's one of the highest priced point guards on the market, and he faces a Cavaliers team that has graded extremely well against opposing point guards this season. The Cavs are already without the services of Kyrie Irving and Mo Williams, and now Matthew Dellavedova will be a game-time decision Wednesday.

Lowry will look to expose a major mismatch at the point, as he attempts his second consecutive double-double. Injuries to starting centers Jonas Valanciunas and Timofey Mozgov could also open up some more rebounding opportunities for Lowry.

SG Bradley Beal, Wizards (at Hornets)

Beal managed 20 points Tuesday, but it wasn't pretty. He shot just 9-for-22 from the field and 2-for-8 from 3-point range. It was just his second game since suffering a shoulder injury Nov. 7, and Wednesday will be his first attempt at a back-to-back.

With ownership down for a couple of reasons, it's the right time to jump in on Beal in a great matchup against the Hornets.

SF Kawhi Leonard, Spurs (vs. Mavericks)

With big names like LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Carmelo Anthony available Wednesday, and more value deeper down the pricing lists, Leonard may fly under the radar. He also has a tough matchup on paper, as the Spurs take on the rival Mavericks.

Still, he's coming off his second double-double in his past 10 games, and his highest assist and steals totals in that span. Few options are as safe as Leonard, while still presenting the upside needed to win a GPP.

PF Blake Griffin, Clippers (vs. Jazz)

Griffin's matchup against the Jazz appears tough, but that's because he's expected to be up against C Rudy Gobert. It's important to remember Gobert is questionable for the game with a tailbone injury, and even if he manages to play it will be at less than 100%.

Griffin is coming off a double-double and has made a 3-pointer in three of his past four games. He hasn't exceeded 33 minutes in either of his two past two games, so even if this one becomes a blowout, he should remain in the game.

C Andre Drummond, Pistons (vs. Heat)

Drummond's price makes him a risky target, especially at a position where owners seek value. With Heat C Hassan Whiteside (illness) at much less than 100%, Drummond will have free reign in the paint at both ends of the court.

Drummond leads the league in rebounding and double-doubles. With an easier matchup than it may seem on paper, he'll be worth the high price due to the low ownership.
