Saturday is expected to be the final time South Carolina junior Pharoh Cooper suits up for the Gamecocks, according to his father.

"He definitely appreciates the opportunity to play for South Carolina, and we as parents appreciate the opportunity they gave him," Glen Cooper told The State's Josh Kendall.

His father added that his son's decision has nothing to do with Steve Spurrier leaving his post, but instead on his performance.

Cooper leads the team with 62 receptions for 887 yards and seven touchdowns this season.

"He wants to ride the wave at its high point," said Glen Cooper, who added that his son didn't want to risk injury in his final year.

Going into Saturday, Cooper has 134 career catches for 2,077 yards.
