The Seattle Seahawks are signing free-agent running back Bryce Brown, the team confirmed Tuesday.
With Marshawn Lynch not expected to play next week, and his status thereafter also remaining relatively unclear, Brown will provide Seattle with some much-needed depth in the offensive backfield.
Brown, who spent four weeks on the Seahawks' roster earlier this season, would step in as the No. 3 back behind Thomas Rawls and Fred Jackson until Lynch is able to make his eventual return.
The 24-year-old appeared in 39 regular-season games over his first three seasons, split between the Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills. He currently sports a career average of 4.4 yards per carry on 226 rushing attempts.
