Eagles' Chip Kelly dismisses potential return to college: 'I have a job'
With the Philadelphia Eagles in the midst of a disappointing season and a handful of high-profile college jobs potentially opening up, many have connected the dots and linked head coach Chip Kelly with a return to the collegiate ranks.
However, after initially inquiring as to why he was being asked the question, Kelly dismissed any talk of him leaving the Eagles.
"I have a job," Kelly said to reporters Tuesday.
At 4-6, Kelly's first season as both Philadelphia's head coach and team architect has been a failure.
The trade for quarterback Sam Bradford has yet to pay dividends, and many are questioning whether Kelly will still be employed at the end of the season.
Though Kelly has power over player transactions and the roster as a whole, he denied that he was the team's general manager.
"I'm not the GM. I just have control over the roster," he said.
While Kelly doesn't deal with all the responsibilities of a general manager, he has the final word on all football-related decisions.
