Report: LSU 'prepared to fire' Les Miles, boosters agree to buy out contract
Les Miles isn't fired yet, but it's only a matter of time.
It would appear as though his dismissal from LSU is imminent, as the school appears prepared to buy out the head coach's contract, according to Yahoo's Pat Forde.
A high-ranking official also told ESPN's Joe Schad that there's "a very good possibility" that boosters have already agreed to pay the buyout, which falls in the range of $15 to $20 million.
"In Louisiana, we expect national championships, and we're not in it," the source told Schad. "If we were competing for a national championship this year, well then we wouldn't be having this conversation."
Miles is also expected to hold a "special meeting" with his players Monday afternoon, though the reason is unknown.
After turning his team into a national contender this season, LSU has lost its last three games in unceremonious fashion.
In 11 seasons at LSU, Miles holds a record of 110-32, making him the second-winningest coach in school history behind Charlie McClendon.
