Eagles' Kelly: No thought of shutting Alonso down for season

Sunday was a rough day for the Philadelphia Eagles' defense, particularly Kiko Alonso, who produced just one tackle - the same total as offensive tackle Jason Peters, tight end Zach Ertz, and wide receiver Riley Cooper - and looked slow for most of the game.

Head coach Chip Kelly admitted Monday that Alonso still isn't 100 percent following knee surgery and he doesn't think the linebacker can play a full game right now. Despite that, Kelly has given no thought to shutting Alonso down for the rest of the season.

Alonso, who was acquired in the LeSean McCoy trade, was one of several Eagles players who declined to speak with the media after Sunday's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Defensive coordinator Bill Davis did speak, though, and clearly wasn't impressed with his group's effort.

"We didn't do anything well today, starting with coaching," Davis said. "A game like this that comes out of nowhere and is that bad for us defensively, it starts with me. It's on me. But there's enough blame to go around for everybody."
