Hurricanes' Gerbe leaves game vs. Kings after hard hit

Carolina Hurricanes forward Nathan Gerbe left Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Kings with a lower-body injury and will not return, the team announced.

The 28-year-old was injured after a hard hit into the boards by Kings forward Kyle Clifford. He was helped off the ice while teammate Brad Malone fought Clifford in response to the hit.

Gerbe has three points in 19 games on the season.
