LeBron passes Jerry West on NBA's all-time scoring list

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

LeBron James has overtaken Hall of Famer Jerry West to move into 19th place on the NBA's all-time scoring list.

James entered Tuesday's game against the Detroit Pistons trailing West by nine points. He tallied 10 points in the first quarter to nudge himself past the Los Angeles Lakers legend.

The 31-year-old James now has 25,193 points, to go along with the fourth-highest points per game average in the history of the NBA.

Reggie Miller, who ranks 18th all-time with 25,279 points, will likely be surpassed by James next week.

West, a one-time champion with the Lakers in 1972, was named to the All-Star Game in each of his 14 NBA seasons. He was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 1979, and the NBA logo was modeled after his silhouette. He now works as an advisor to the Golden State Warriors.
