Ricky Rubio returns from hamstring injury vs. Heat

Chris Humphreys / USA TODAY Sports

After sitting out the team's past four games while dealing with hamstring and knee issues, Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio is ready to return for Tuesday's clash against the Miami Heat.

Timberwolves interim head coach Sam Mitchell told reporters that while Rubio will play, it's unclear as to how many minutes Rubio can handle. His status had been listed as questionable on Monday.

Minnesota raced out to a 4-2 start with Rubio in the lineup, but they have dropped all four games in his absence. Zach LaVine posted strong numbers as Rubio's replacement in the starting lineup, but he's nowhere near the defender or playmaker that Rubio is when healthy.

The 25-year-old Spaniard is averaging 13 points, nine assists, and 2.3 steals in 30.8 minutes per game this season, and the Timberwolves have outscored opponents by an average of 10.3 points per 100 possessions with Rubio on the court.
