New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman suffered a broken foot in Sunday's win over the New York Giants, according to Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports.

Edelman will undergo surgery on Monday but there is some hope he will be able to return at some point this season, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The injury is to his fifth metatarsal and is likely a Jones fracture, Garafolo reports.

Edelman was seen using crutches and in a walking boot following the game. He was carted to the team bus, according to Doug Kyed of NESN.

Edelman was unable to return to the game after leaving in the second quarter.

It's likely that Edelman will undergo further tests on Monday to determine the exact nature of his injury. If he misses any time the Pats will look to Brandon LaFell and Danny Amendola to step up.
