VIDEOS: Timberwolves employ bold strategy of not guarding Steph Curry

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Timberwolves conceded 40 points to the Golden State Warriors in the first quarter on Thursday.

Not unrelated: They left Stephen Curry wide open from the 3-point line on at least two occasions.

Here's the first gaff. Curry opened the game by draining a few tough shots, so the Timberwolves gave him an easy one. Oops.

Six minutes later, Minnesota left Curry wide open yet again - an inevitable outcome considering the team called for 39-year-old Andre Miller to tag the reigning MVP. Double oops.

Also not unrelated: Curry had 21 points in the quarter on just nine field-goal attempts, which included four of five from deep (he was fouled on the miss but nothing was called).

That will help him keep his edge over the entire Timberwolves team in total 3-point makes.
