Warriors' Barnes out vs. Kings with ankle sprain

Small forward Harrison Barnes did not play Saturday when the Golden State Warriors met the Sacramento Kings.

Barnes sprained his left ankle in Friday's win over the Phoenix Suns. He left the game in the third quarter after landing on Markieff Morris' foot. X-rays taken were negative, according to the team, but interim coach Luke Walton told reporters Saturday that it's possible Barnes could miss multiple games.

"We'll wait to hear back from the doctors," Walton said.

The Warriors have been very fortunate with injuries since the start of their run of dominance in 2014-15. Outside of center Andrew Bogut, and the now-departed David Lee, no regular rotation player has missed significant time due to injury this season, or last.

It's a big season for Barnes, who faces restricted free agency next summer after he and the Warriors halted contract extension talks last month. He turned down a four-year deal worth a reported $64 million, with his eyes logically focused on the 2016 salary cap; so far this year Barnes is doing his part to earn a bigger deal, averaging a career-high 13.4 points per game.

Brandon Rush started in Barnes' place Saturday.
