Cowboys' Mincey: Romo's 'not Jesus'

The Dallas Cowboys have one more game left to play until quarterback Tony Romo is eligible to come off IR/designated to return, but the team isn't expecting him to be a miracle worker when he's back in uniform.

Defensive end Jeremy Mincey said the Cowboys, who are riding a six-game losing streak and sit at the bottom of the NFC East, can't rely on Romo alone to save their season.

"We can't sit and wait on Romo," Mincey said, according to Clarence E. Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "He's not Jesus. We can't sit and wait on him. There are games we could have easily won without him being there.

"We have to be sharper and take advantage of every play and every opportunity to make something happen. There are no excuses to how we are playing. We have to get better. It's our fault. We have to suck it up, keep going and get better."

The Cowboys face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, followed by the Miami Dolphins on Nov. 22, when Romo is expected to return.

Since 1990, no team that's started the season 2-6 has gone on to make the playoffs. There's still hope for the Cowboys, though, as they remain just two-and-a-half games back of the division-leading New York Giants.

"Of course, of course, we are waiting on him without a doubt," Mincey said of Romo. "He is a great leader, great player. He is an amazing quarterback. I have been around a lot of them. He is good person, a good leader and a good friend. It will great to that type or pressure on the field and that type of leadership. To get the ball rolling we got to get this one this week. We got to find away to win this week."
