Anthony Davis: X-rays negative on right hip

X-rays on Davis' right hip came back negative after he was forced out of Tuesday's game against the Mavericks, but he didn't return to the court upon departing.

Analysis:

The injury-ravaged Pelicans looked as though they might have suffered their most crippling blow to date after Davis was removed from the game with the hip injury, but fortunately for the team and his fantasy owners, the issue seems to be nothing more than a bruise. With the Pelicans holding a sizable lead in the second half before claiming their first win of the season, there wasn't much incentive to insert Davis back in the game, so he was held out for precautionary purposes. That said, it's not guaranteed that Davis will be ready to play right away Wednesday against the Hawks, so his status for that contest may come down to a game-time decision. If that's the case, Ryan Anderson could be under consideration for a starting role, while Dante Cunningham, Luke Babbitt, and Alonzo Gee might also stand to see an uptick in minutes if Davis ends up sitting.
