DFS: Week 10 NFL Combo Plays

The Week 10 bye teams consist of the Atlanta Falcons, Indianapolis Colts, San Diego Chargers and San Francisco 49ers.

With the Colts on a bye, they weren't in the mix for the Week 10 Combo Plays, but the abdominal injury to QB Andrew Luck will leave them out of consideration for the foreseeable future. In, Pittsburgh, Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger hasn't yet been ruled out with a foot injury, but he is considered a longshot to play against the Cleveland Browns.

Here are the safest teammate pairings to target from the remaining Week 10 teams:

Here are some riskier, more affordable plays to target for use in GPPs:

Blake Bortles and Allen Robinson (or Allen Hurns), Jaguars at Ravens

What was once the cry of the Jaguars' fanbase is now the cry of the fantasy football community. Bortles remains a bargain on most DFS sites despite exceeding 300 passing yards in three of his past four games. His seven interceptions in that span aren't ideal for the Jaguars in real life, but they're easily offset in most fantasy formats by his 13 touchdowns.

When choosing the compliment for Bortles, it's nearly impossible to go wrong with either Robinson or Hurns. Here are the numbers for Hurns during his league-high six-game touchdown streak:

Week Receptions Yards Touchdowns
3 2 70 1
4 11 116 1
5 5 116 1
6 2 30 1
7 2 53 1
9 5 122 1

Here are Robinson's numbers in that same time:

Week Receptions Yards Touchdowns
3 4 68 0
4 4 80 0
5 7 72 2
6 6 86 1
7 6 98 1
9 6 121 0

During this six-game stretch for the Jaguars, Hurns has had the higher upside, while Robinson has been the safer option with a more reliable reception total.

The Ravens are allowing an extra 2.7 targets and 27.3 yards to No. 1 wide receivers versus No. 2 receivers, according to FootballOutsiders.com, leading to a slight edge for Robinson in Week 10.

The Jaguars were the 31st highest-scoring offense after Week 4, and they'll enter Week 10 at No. 22. Both Hurns and Robinson will continue to feature heavily in the league's most improved offense.

Aaron Rodgers and Randall Cobb, Packers (vs. Lions)

Cobb's Week 9 performance was his best fantasy outing since scoring three touchdowns against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 3. Rodgers' Week 9 performance was his best fantasy game of the season, despite the Packers losing a second consecutive game.

The Lions have allowed a minimum of 70 receiving yards to at least one opposing receiver in all but one game this season. Rodgers' 369 passing yards in Week 9 allowed the trio of Cobb, Davante Adams and James Jones to rack up a minimum of 57 yards a piece.

Rodgers and Cobb remain a high-priced duo, but their ownership rates are likely to remain low due to their respective poor statistical seasons.

Derek Carr and Amari Cooper, Raiders (vs. Vikings)

Since a Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, the Vikings have allowed a minimum of 80 receiving yards to at least one opposing pass catcher in every game. At 11.3 targets per game, the Vikings are allowing more targets to go to No. 1 receivers than all but one team (Oakland).

A revitalized Michael Crabtree has outproduced Cooper in four of the last five weeks. QB Derek Carr has had little trouble getting both receivers involved. Carr has completed at least 20 passes in every game since Week 1, and he has eclipsed 300 yards in back-to-back weeks for the second time this season.

The 89.4 yards Minnesota is allowing to opposing No. 1s is more than the average allowed by everyone except the 49ers. Similarly to the Jaguars, it's tough to go wrong when choosing between Crabtree and Cooper. With Cooper carrying the higher price tag he becomes the contrarian play as most of the field tries to save money with Crabtree.
