Dee Gordon could make Miami his home for a long time.

The Miami Marlins will explore a multi-year contract with the National League batting and stolen-base champion, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.

Bryce Harper .330
Paul Goldschmidt .321

Gordon, 27, would welcome an opportunity to stay with the Marlins long term.

"I love it here - the ballpark, the coaches, the staff," he said.

President of baseball operations Michael Hill told reporters that although the team will look to make additions to the team through free agency or trade, a decision on where to spend the club's payroll will come once they know how much they have available.

"We'll get a payroll - which we don't have yet - and we will see how it all shakes out," Hill said. "We'll try to address as many needs as possible."

The speedster, who isn't eligible for free agency until after the 2019 season, made $2.5 million last season after being traded from the Los Angeles Dodgers.

He hit .333/.359/.418 with four home runs, 46 RBIs, and 58 stolen bases.
