Nebraska ended Michigan State's bid for an undefeated season Saturday with a controversial touchdown in the game's final minute.
The Cornhuskers trailed by five and got the ball with 55 seconds left to play. After moving up the field in a hurry, Tommy Armstrong Jr. connected with Brandon Reilly on a 30-yard touchdown with 17 seconds left that put Nebraska up 39-38.
The controversy stems from the fact Reilly went out of bounds prior to catching the ball, but the officials ruled he was forced out and thus remained an eligible receiver. The play stood after review, Nebraska failed on its attempt for a two-point conversion, and the Spartans couldn't respond in the final 17 seconds, ending their chances of an undefeated season.
