Sepp Blatter under medical evaluation after suffering from stress
Under investigation and under medical evaluation.
On Friday, FIFA president Sepp Blatter's personal adviser, Klaus Stohlker, revealed the embattled kingpin of football's governing body is under medical evaluation after suffering from stress and was forced to cancel an interview with Swiss television scheduled for next week.
"He has been told to rest for the next five days," Stohlker said, according to the Press Association. "It is nothing dramatic, he has not been to hospital. I've spoken to him today and he says he will be back in his private office on Thursday."
Stohlker also said: "He is under tremendous pressure from so many sides and perhaps this is a little bit difficult for a man who is not the youngest," according to Ben Rumsby of The Telegraph.
Richard Cullen, Blatter's lawyer, didn't provide further details but admitted his client is "fine."
In October, FIFA's Ethics Committee provisionally suspended Blatter for 90 days from all football activities. The decision came after the Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland opened criminal proceedings that suspected Blatter of signing a "favourable" contract with disgraced former FIFA vice-president Jack Warner and making a "disloyal payment" of CHF 2 Mio. (£1.35 million) to UEFA president Michel Platini.
