VIDEO: Chiellini forgets how to defend, gifts Monchengladbach opening goal
Borussia Monchengladbach, winners of six consecutive matches, are playing plenty well on their own at the moment, but that didn't stop Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini from helping them out in Tuesday's Champions League contest.
The Italian defender, in a moment that he will want to push out of his memory as quickly as possible, made an atrocious blunder in the opening half of the match at Borussia-Park, seemingly forgetting that his primary job as a central defender is to, you know, defend his goal from opposition attacks.
Fabian Johnson was more than happy to take advantage of the error.
In finding the back of the net, the American full-back joined an exclusive list of U.S. players to score a goal in Europe's top club competition.
The six Americans to score a UCL goal:
Fabian Johnson
Sacha Kljestan
