Bruins' Pastrnak out with foot injury, Khokhlachev recalled
A nagging injury to David Pastrnak will give Alex Khokhlachev another chance with the Boston Bruins.
Pastrnak didn't skate Tuesday morning, and head coach Claude Julien said he needs more time to heal after taking a shot off his foot last Tuesday against the Arizona Coyotes.
The Bruins later announced Pastrnak isn't expected to play against the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night, and Julien said the forward - who has two goals and two assists in 10 contests - will need "a few days" to recover.
General manager Don Sweeney said X-rays on Pastrnak's foot revealed a bone contusion and significant swelling, according to The Boston Globe's Amalie Benjamin.
The club recalled Khokhlachev on Tuesday from its AHL affiliate in Providence, where he notched four goals and nine assists in the first 10 games, tying for first in the AHL in points and assists.
Khokhlachev questioned the Bruins' reluctance to give him a chance at the NHL level during training camp in September.
He has spent the majority of his pro career with Providence, appearing in only four games with Boston since being drafted 40th overall in 2011.
Khokhlachev scored 15 goals with the AHL club last season, following a 21-goal output in 2013-14.
