Silva, Zabaleta unavailable for Manchester City's trip to Sevilla

David Silva and Pablo Zabaleta will miss out on Manchester City's Champions League meeting with Sevilla on Tuesday, Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed.

Silva is still struggling with an ankle injury that he sustained while on international duty with Spain last month, while Zabaleta was forced off after he reinjured his right knee during City's 5-1 League Cup defeat of Crystal Palace last week.

Sergio Aguero and Samir Nasri are also still unavailable for City with hamstring issues, and will stay in Manchester as they work on a return to first team action.

Long-term absentees Gael Clichy and Fabian Delph will link up with the squad, however, as they have overcome respective ankle and hamstring injuries.

Pellegrini told reporters that they will be looking to nab all three points in Seville. If City wins and Monchengladbach fails to win at home to Juventus, the Premier League table-topper would have a six point cushion and superior goal difference in the qualification places with two matches to go.

"I think it's very important for the team to try to win because, depending on what happens in other game, we could be in the next stage," he told journalists in Seville.

"It's a benefit to qualify as soon as you can - it's not easy to do it two games before the end. If we do it, in the same way you must qualify, you must fight to qualify in first place."
