PETA requests investigation of Dez Bryant's 'possible illegal possession' of a monkey

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant recently acquired a pet baby monkey, and named it Dallas Bryant. Cute right?

Well PETA doesn't think so, as the animal rights organization has requested that DeSoto Animal Control investigate Bryant's "possible illegal possession" of a monkey, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

"Monkeys belong in the wild - not in the hands of football players who acquire exotic animals just to make a splash on Instagram," says PETA Foundation Deputy Director of Captive Animal Law Enforcement Brittany Peet via Adam Schefter of ESPN.

"This baby capuchin was torn away from his mother shortly after birth and needs special care that can now only be provided by wildlife experts who will be able to ensure that he gets the love and attention he deserves."

PETA has already secured a primate sanctuary for Bryant's monkey if in fact he is taken away from the wide receiver, where Dallas would be introduced to a surrogate mother and be able to live with members of his species.

Bryant faced criticism from multiple experts and animal rights groups when he first acquired the monkey.
