Hawaii fires head coach Norm Chow
Hawaii officially announced Sunday that head coach Norm Chow has been relieved of his duties a day after suffering a 58-7 home loss to Air Force, the worst loss in school history.
Assistant head coach Chris Naeole will take over as the interim head coach for the remainder of the season.
"I'd like to thank Coach Chow for his dedication to our football program for the past four years," university athletic director David Matlin said. "Ultimately, we feel this decision is in the best interest of the University and Athletics Department and we need to move in a different direction.
"Coach Chow should be commended for helping our football program achieve all-time highs in APR scores and graduation rates."
In four seasons with the Rainbow Warriors, Chow was 10-36, including a 2-7 mark this season. He took over the position in 2012.
Hawaii is the 10th FBS school looking to fill a head-coaching vacancy.
