Despite trailing for a large part of the second half, No. 15 Michigan was clinging to a 29-26 lead late against Minnesota.

The Golden Gophers appeared to take the lead with a late touchdown, but the play was reviewed and Drew Wolitarsky was ultimately ruled down at the Michigan 1-yard line. After a Mitch Leidner incomplete pass, Minnesota had the option to either attempt a game-tying field goal or go for broke and try for the win with two seconds left in regulation.

Gophers interim coach Tracy Claeys decided to try and avoid overtime and pick up the win, but it didn't work out.

Leidner's attempted quarterback sneak was stuffed on the goal line by the Michigan defense, allowing the Wolverines to escape with the 29-26 victory.
