Ohio State's J.T. Barrett suspended after arrest for operating motor vehicle while impaired

Mike Carter-USA TODAY Sports

Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett was arrested early Saturday morning for operating a motor vehicle while impaired, according to the school.

Ohio State is on a bye this week, but Barrett will be suspended for the Buckeyes' next game against Minnesota.

The 20-year-old sophomore was arrested near the campus after an attempt to avoid a checkpoint area, reports Eleven Warriors. He took a breathalyzer test and registered over the 0.08 blood-alcohol level limit.

The arrest comes one week after Barrett made his first start of the season, and the seemingly never-ending drama of the Buckeyes' quarterback situation will now continue after it appeared to be settled.

According to the report, Barrett was released and driven home by teammate and fellow quarterback Cardale Jones.
