LeBron 'honored' to play in front of Obama on opening night

The president and "The King" are expected to be in one place Tuesday when the Cleveland Cavaliers visit the Chicago Bulls to tip off the season.

President Barack Obama, a longtime Bulls fan, is expected to be on hand for NBA's season opener, which humbles James.

"He loves the game of basketball," James told reporters during morning shootaround on Tuesday. "We all know that. It's an honor for me to be a part of a venue and a spectacle that the president would like to come and watch. It's an honor for sure."

The experience won't be a first for James and teammate Kevin Love, as they played in front of Obama in an exhibition game with Team USA in 2012. Cavaliers center Anderson Varejao was also in attendance that day as a key contributor for Brazil, which suffered defeat at the hands of James's 30-point outburst.

Cavaliers head coach David Blatt, a veteran of more than 20 years coaching abroad, isn't sweating the added pressure of one extra Bulls fan in the stands.

"You know, I've been in front of some presidents in other parts of the world, actually," Blatt said.

James is dealing with a bad back that sidelined him for most of preseason, but the 30-year-old said Monday that he's "ready to go" for the game in Chicago.
