The Philadelphia 76ers confirmed Sunday the diagnosis of a sprained right knee and bone bruise for Robert Covington, with no time frame set for his return.
The 24-year-old forward was expected to miss two weeks, costing him the first few games of the 2015-16 regular season, Yahoo Sports' Shams Charania recently reported.
The injury occurred Friday during Philadelphia's final preseason game against the Boston Celtics, with Covington falling hard following a layup attempt. He was helped off the court by teammates and didn't return.
In 70 games last season, Covington averaged 13.5 points on 39.6 percent shooting from the field, along with 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists.
