The Montreal Canadiens just made NHL history.

Carey Price made 49 saves to lead the undefeated Canadiens to a 5-3 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday, improving their record to 9-0-0.

With the win, Montreal becomes the first-ever team to start a season with nine consecutive regulation wins, and could make history again next week.

P.K. Subban opened the scoring on the power play with a booming shot that beat Jonathan Bernier for his first goal of the season. Lars Eller, David Desharnais, and Brendan Gallagher also chipped in with goals.

Captain Max Pacioretty buried the eventual game-winner on the penalty kill with his league-leading seventh goal of the season.

The Maple Leafs, who fell to 1-4-2 on the season, threw everything they could at the Habs en route to becoming the first team to score three goals on Price this season.

Leo Komarov, James van Riemsdyk, and Morgan Rielly all scored, while Bernier made 22 saves in the loss.

Toronto will look to get back on track against the Arizona Coyotes on Monday, while Montreal will have another shot at making history versus the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday.
