David Price's lack of success in the postseason has been well documented, and the Toronto Blue Jays left-hander is now ready to take a step in a new, winning direction.

"It's been long overdue for me to get a win as a starter in the playoffs," Price said Thursday. "And I'll be ready to change that story tomorrow."

Despite a successful regular-season career that's featured a Cy Young, five All-Star appearances, 104 wins, and a career ERA of 3.09, Price has been less than spectacular in the playoffs.

He's never earned a postseason victory as a starter, and his 2-7 record is accompanied by an ERA of 5.24 and a WHIP of 1.20.

"I haven't got a win as a starter in the playoffs," Price told reporters Thursday. "I guess I have to prove that I can pitch at this point in the season in the playoffs. I get that. But, I don't have to go out there and prove that I'm a good pitcher. I think I've done that over the seven years of my career.

"I'm just going to go out there, throw my game, have fun, have good things happen. Get good results and good things are going to happen. I know they are."

The southpaw also discussed manager John Gibbons' odd use of his services throughout the first two rounds of the playoffs - which has included a relief appearance in Game 4 of the ALDS, and then warming in the bullpen during Game 5 of the ALCS on Wednesday.

"I'm not upset with how things have transpired in the playoffs," Price explained. "... There's been good communication."

Price will take the hill for Toronto in a potential season-ending contest in Kansas City on Friday, squaring off against Royals right-hander Yordano Ventura in a Game 2 rematch.
