Report: NFL exploring possibility of team playing 2 games in London
Kirby Lee / USA TODAY Sports
The NFL is exploring the possibility of having one of its 32 teams play two regular-season games in London in consecutive weeks as early as next season, according to NFL Network's Albert Breer.
Under the current arrangement, teams receive a bye directly after participating in the NFL's International Series.
The Jacksonville Jaguars signed a contract in 2012 to participate in the International Series through 2016. Jacksonville was designated as the home team in each of its four games.
It appears to be an implausible suggestion at this juncture, due to issues of competitive balance. Many teams would likely be opposed to the idea of losing two stateside games, although the league's made it a priority to grow the game's popularity in Europe.
