VIDEO: Cubs catch break after ball gets caught in Wrigley ivy

The Chicago Cubs benefited from the ultimate case of home-field advantage on a potentially game-changing play in the sixth inning of Game 3 of the NLDS.

With two outs and a runner on first, New York Mets shortstop Wilmer Flores slapped a ball to right field that a diving Jorge Soler misjudged, allowing the ball to roll all the way to the wall.

Cubs center fielder Dexter Fowler went to retrieve the blunder, but the ball got lost in the ivy on the outfield wall at Wrigley Field and was immediately called a ground rule double.

The rule forced the Mets' runners to stop at second and third, negating a run that would've put New York up 4-2.

Cubs reliever Trevor Cahill struck out Jacob deGrom to end the inning in the following at-bat.
