Schwarber sets Cubs playoff record with 5th homer

Kyle Schwarber is doing everything he can to slug his Chicago Cubs back into the National League Championship Series.

The hulking rookie continued to smash baseballs and franchise records Tuesday when he connected on a 96-mph fastball from Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom for his fifth home run of the playoffs.

Schwarber's first-inning solo blast marked a franchise record for most home runs by a Cubs player in the postseason, an achievement he accomplished in just his eighth career playoff game. The previous record was shared by Aramis Ramirez and Alex Gonzalez, who each hit four homers during the 2003 playoffs.
