Karim Benzema on Arsenal link: 'I laugh about it'

Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema says he didn't consider joining Arsenal in the summer, despite the continued rumours in the British press.

He is quoted in the Mirror via Journal du Dimanche as saying he "never" considered leaving the Santiago Bernabeu for the Emirates, and commented that the link to the North London club has been worth a giggle with those close to him.

"I laugh about it with my brother and my friends. We wait for the media to come out with these rumours," the former Lyon striker said. "In my opinion, I think that Real and Barca are the pinnacle in football. Why would I leave?

"I'm a starter for the best club in the world. I am happy; it's that simple,"

Benzema has scored seven goals in just eight starts so far this campaign, and is expected to line up as the reigning Champions League winner travels to Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.
