Alouettes hoping newly-acquired Glenn can snap slide vs. Tiger-Cats

Kevin Glenn will see some familiar faces when he looks out to the defence Sunday.

For the second week in a row, Glenn will get the start for his team against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. But last week he faced the Tabbies while still a member of the Saskatchewan Roughriders; on Sunday, Glenn will be making his debut under centre for the Montreal Alouettes at Molson Stadium.

Glenn was traded from the Roughriders to Montreal on Wednesday, just prior to the trade deadline, in exchange for a fifth-round draft pick. The Alouettes have been in dire need of help at quarterback, with Rakeem Cato having suffered a concussion Monday against the Toronto Argonauts, and Jonathan Crompton also injured.

Montreal will be the sixth different CFL team Glenn has suited up for since joining the league in 2001. He's also been a member of the Ottawa Redblacks' roster but never played a game for the second-year franchise, and was an Argonaut for less than 24 hours in 2004, leaving the Edmonton Eskimos as the only active CFL team yet to employ the veteran.

Glenn will have a tough task ahead of him in Montreal, as he'll join a last-place Alouettes team trying to snap a three-game losing streak on Sunday and remain in the hunt for a crossover playoff berth in the West Division. In 9 games with the 2-13 Riders this year, Glenn completed 66.5 percent of his passes for 2,174 yards, with nine touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

On the other side, Hamilton remains in a three-way dead heat for first place in the East Division, sitting tied with Toronto and Ottawa at 18 points (Toronto, who lost to Calgary Saturday, and idle Ottawa are both 9-6, while Hamilton is 9-5). Rookie quarterback Jeff Mathews, who became the starter after Zach Collaros tore his ACL, threw for 385 yards and three touchdowns against Saskatchewan last week. The Cornell product will look to build on those career-highs Sunday, and move Hamilton back into sole possession of first with win number 10.

These two teams last met on Aug. 27, where Montreal earned a 26-23 victory on the road, handing the Ticats their first-ever loss at Tim Hortons Field.
