The Chicago Cubs received a boost of support from two franchise legends prior to Tuesday's Game 4 of the National League Division Series.

Former flamethrower Kerry Wood took the mound at Wrigley Field for the ceremonial first pitch, and brought with him in spirit the presence of Ernie Banks.

Wood, wearing Banks' famous No. 14 jersey and the late Ron Santo's No. 10 hat, delivered the first pitch moments before the Cubs were set to play the St. Louis Cardinals in the potential elimination game.

Banks, a two-time MVP and 11-time All-Star, died earlier this year at the age of 83.

Wood, 38, won Rookie of the Year in 1998 and starred in the Cubs' rotation for several seasons before injuries derailed his promising career. A two-time All-Star, Wood managed a 3.67 ERA over his 14-year career, 12 of which he spent in Chicago.

The Cubs lead the best-of-five series 2-1.
