Real Madrid's Danilo returns to training after month-long absence

Reuters

Fear not, Real Madrid supporters, Alvaro Arbeloa will not be getting significant minutes any time soon.

The club announced Monday that right-back Danilo, who was sidelined for the past month with a foot ailment, returned to training with the rest of his teammates, and is therefore on the verge of a return to game action.

The news will no doubt put a smile on the face of manager Rafa Benitez, who saw starting right-back Dani Carvajal suffer an ankle injury in the club's last match before the international break - a typically tense 1-1 draw against city rival Atletico.

Arbeloa, little more than a squad player at the Santiago Bernabeu, was forced to replace his diminutive compatriot, and was promptly at fault for the Atletico goal that ultimately saw the two sides share the spoils.

Danilo, who joined the La Liga powerhouse this summer from Porto for roughly €31.5 million euros, has made just two appearances with his new club this season, but - assuming Carvajal needs time to recover from his injury - the 24-year-old Brazilian will assume the starting role coming out of the international break.
